Continuous Improvement and Samskara
Continuous
Improvement and Samskara
आः नो भद्राः कर्तव्यो यन्तु विश्वतः
Dr. Manoj Kumar Patel
Civilization and
refined behavioral growths of this 21st century from the Stone and primitive
ages are a result of continuous and continual improvements in the behavioral
and social aspects of mankind over a long period of time. The Vedic
civilization of India and the other rich civilizations namely Mesopotamia,
Egypt, Indus Valley (Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa), Andes, China, and Mesoamerica–
are supposed to have arisen independently of each other approximately 6,000 to
3,500 years ago. Social protagonists from each civilization have contributed
immensely to see the best which is still under progress with many disturbances
from fundamentalists around many nooks and corners with fanaticisms. We,
however, will ignore the disturbing elements here in this discussion. What is
needed is संस्कार “Samskara” whose closest English translation is – decency in words,
actions, and behavior (well-groomed).
Vibe reflects tribe – is an adage and very true is that. I was hearing
to an address by self-styled and sycophant energized person speaking in
objectionable words about the elected personality of the democratic country.
Words used and gestures made by the person were repulsive irrespective of who
he was alluding to. It was disgusting but the more abominable was that one of
his supporters was justifying his wrong words as – “political statements” and hence
not to be taken seriously.
Elected personality is disrespected both verbally and with body
language. Someone else is justifying the distasteful words and gestures as
“political words and political statements”. Many others are making a debate
over it. Are we seeing a continuous and continual degradation from our संस्कार “Samskara”?
Points to seriously ponder over while we pray for - Let noble thoughts
prevail and let the world be at peace आः नो भद्राः कर्तव्यो यन्तु विश्वतः
