Inertia of ... and Corruption

Inertia of ... and Corruption
Dr. Manoj Kumar Patel

Inertia is the resistance of the object to any change in its motion, including a change in direction. An object will stay still or keep moving at the same speed and in a straight line, unless it is acted upon by an external unbalanced force. This is the second law of Newton and we all know about it. See how it is equally applicable to business management as well as social aspects.

Inertia is the innate force possessed by an object which resists changes in motion. When the objects are human beings then inertia is capable to cause anti development.

Like “inertia of motion” and “inertia of rest” in the Newton’s Law there are many unstated laws in human behaviour and organizational behaviour. Many of these laws can be stated as:

a)      Inertia of Kindness,
b)     Inertia of Inactivity,
c)      Inertia of Cheating,
d)     Inertia of truthfulness,
e)      Inertia of politicising facts,
f)       Inertia of corrupt practices,
g)     Inertia of impunity,
h)     Inertia of accepting bad practices,
i)        Inertia of doing good,
j)        Inertia of infidelity,
k)      Inertia of hard working habit,
l)        Inertia of getting beaten up by mischievous
m)   And many more inertia.

When system in motion is initiated by someone, but illusion and myopia of many others in and around having clout make it appear as a self driven mechanism, then the system begins to end. The roles of higher management are to read between these thin lines and they should stop poke to come out the system from inertia. Unfortunately many who are kept in top positions to stop inertia themselves get selfishly involved into it for materialistic gains. Each one of us can remember and recall many self proclaimed honest fellows who trade in murky water. I remember a person of significance and authorities who often used to sermon me to be in the grey areas rather than in the areas of pure black and white. “Et tuBrute?” is all pervading, and that is interesting.
