Cultured and educated

Cultured and educated

One of my colleagues lost his job amidst the lockdown period that is prevailing all across the world since the beginning of this year that is the beginning of the year 2020. An accident took place in the section for which he was the in-charge. But at the same time, he was absent on the day of the accident. Management handpicked him as the cause for the accident and removed him from the services of the organization.

My colleague has two children the elder one is just stepping into the higher secondary and the younger is stepping into secondary education. His termination came at the time when he needed expenses at the highest for admissions of his children into the next levels of education.

The accident that took place in the section is a repetition that has been happening for at least the last 2 years. There is a full-fledged safety department to analyze and find out the root causes of accidents. Every time an accident takes place the matter is closed by the safety officer with the full concurrence of the top management.

Point is – every time root cause mentioned is WRONG otherwise why repetitions of accidents taking place in the same section. The point to ponder is either there is a gross mistake going on the business in-process or a gross mistake in the use of the right quality of chemicals used in that plant. Unfortunately, neither of these did come up in any of the accident investigation reports.

Hence, it can be fairly concluded that the termination of the section in charge was not just. Now, examine the case. What we find are:

Ø  The problem is not there with the in-charge but with process or materials or both the process and the materials.
Ø  Management showed its poor management practice by resuming operation by showing to the authorities that they have initiated actions against the in charge. This is a myopic view by the management.
Ø  The terminated in charge did not speak anything against the biased action on him by his management.

Not going any further into this subject we will stop here to make a loud thought – who is cultured and educated?

From the chain of incidences, it appears that it is the in-charge that is appearing to be more cultured and educated over the management. We call him cultured and educated because:

v  He has maintained discipline and subordination intact even though he was punished for an accident where he was not present on the factory premises.

v  He did not question the weird the behaviour of the management and the HR department despite the facts that he was not given a chance to defend himself through an internal inquiry and knowing fully well that both the HR and the management unfair not only to him but to the entire protocol of the organization

v  He showed Inner cleanliness, keeping the mind and the intellect serene and sacred, free from dirt.

In essence, do not rush to conclude. Following others’ reactions is not desirable. One must resolve any action only after intelligent discrimination and inquiry.

The HR department and the management behaved the way sheep behave in herds. Born as people, moving about as educated persons, yet stupidly following others as sheep do and polluting the minds with ideas borrowed from the lips of others — these things are to be avoided.

The terminated in charge is now on the path of entrepreneurship. That is he is growing faster than his earlier place of work.

Surrender yourself to the Almighty and HE will take care of you, the way he is taking care of each one in this Universe.

  1. Pseudo cultured and ill educated are everywhere. I feel pity for the in charge described in your article.
